Hair wash routine for the lazy natural

Updated: Jan 2, 2021

I am admittedly a VERY lazy natural. In fact, as I type this, my hair is in a 2-week old flat twist and I have done NOTHING to it in that time. Oh and just so you know, it isn't one of those cute flat twists. It was something I just threw together to keep my hair away from my face.

I last washed my hair 3-weeks ago and I am debating washing it this weekend.

Anyways, I share all that to say, I am a legit lazy natural.

So what does a lazy natural do on hair wash day? My wash day routine is done in 5 easy steps and often takes about 90-minutes. For a natural, that's not long at all.

You can watch the YouTube video here as well.

Step 1: Using my fingers, I detangle my hair strands. 15 - 20 minutes

Step 2: I spray my hair with a 2-part water and 1-part apple cider vinegar mix. I do this to break up any deposits in my hair. Then I apply a protein hair treatment and use our deep conditioning bonnet for 30-minutes. 40-minutes

Step 3: I wash my hair with a cleansing shampoo and then apply a moisturizing conditioner while in the shower. I leave it on for no more than 10-minutes (yes I follow the directions on the bottle...hey, I did say I am a lazy natural right?) 20-minutes

Step 4: I tee-shirt dry my hair and apply my hair oil mix to my scalp and massage it in. 5-minutes

Step 5: I put my hair in twists or style it as I want. 15-minutes

I sleep with a satin lined bonnet every single night and so far, my hair is thriving. As is often said, "the proof is in the pudding".

How long does your wash day routine take?
